Bedtime stories for triathletes

5 March 2017 2 Comments

I have had my book available on Amazon for a couple of months as an e-book, I personally prefer a “real book” made from paper. Something I can have beside my bed, or in my office, to read a page or two and come back to it when I have more time.

A lot of people have asked when I will have a paper copy available. Well the good news is after lots of minor editing changes, and several bouts of approvals, it is now available on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Bedtime-Stories-Triathletes-Allan-Pitman/dp/1504306511/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1488677747&sr=1-2&keywords=100+Bedtime+Stories+for+Triathletes

The approach I took in putting the collection of stories together was that from my own experience as a triathlon competitor of over thirty years, when I manage to get into bed of a night, I can only read 2-3 pages before falling asleep. At this rate it sometimes takes a couple of months to read a book.

My stories are not like reading a biography, each one can be read and the book can be put down. Ready for you to start again the next time you pick it up.

I’ve selected stories which I have written over the past 5-6 years, each one has a supportive message, that I hope will feel like a conversation with me over a coffee or a glass of wine. I have a reputation of having a story for every occasion.

I think that comes from a natural enjoyment of other athlete’s company. In twenty-five years of coaching I’ve had hundreds of athletes come through my squad and train for an Ironman race. So far seventy-four of them have qualified for Kona.

Every one of these athletes have contributed in some way to one of the stories. A friend commented once that when he read one of my stories, all that was missing was “Dear Tony” at the top. Many of us will feel a little part of each story which will “fit” our own situation.
