Colloidal silver

Very often as an athlete gets close to an event, his/her immune system is struggling to keep on top of the bugs that try to get hold of us in the last few weeks.

In a perfect world athletes get to take a nap each day, take nutritional supplements, have a fabuous diet with lots of fresh fruit and veges. Their training is structured to stress them just enough to bring about the improvements they’re seeking. Unfortunately most of us have jobs and families which add to our workload. We often get pushed right to the edge.

When we feel the first signs of illness, the slightly sore throat, the slight headache, legs that just don’t want to ride up hills, arms that have trouble pulling back the blanket to let us up in the morning.

That’s the time to have a rest day. Having an unscheduled rest day at the right time may save two weeks training and the subsequent loss of confidence that often comes from sitting around while your mates are out training.

When I find myself in that position,

* I rest immediatley.

* I double or sometimes even triple my vitamin C intake (1000mg every 3hrs)

* I open a zinc capsule and sprinkle the contents on my tongue and with a little water, gargle it. (zinc losenges do the same job)

* Then I start taking one desert spoonful of colloidal silver, gargled in a little water before swallowing. (colloidal silver is a tastless clear liquid available from just about any healthfood store.) It was used in hospitals long before anti-biotics were invented. I would take it every 4hrs for a day or two.

This simple procedure along with rest and warm well cooked foods, soups and stews is enough to bounce me back to good health in a day or so. I’m attacking the bugs rather than letting them get a hold on me.

I keep these supplements in the cupboard ready for emergencies. They may not stop every attack on your immune system but they have saved a lot of us from losing two weeks training when we really come down with something.

If symptoms persist consult you health care professional (that’s what they say isn’t it?)
